* Comfortable VIP Floor *

I enjoyed my visit to the 204 room Sheraton Palace. Trainee Marina, who showed me the hotel, was very nice. The first thing I saw was the 7th floor. This is their VIP floor. Guests staying here have their own reception area. They simply go straight to the 7th floor to check in. This floor is very nice, very attractive and very comfortable. Some rooms have interesting city views. I saw a really nice 2 story luxury suite... wow. The 7th floor also has a special, very nice breakfast/snack area.

On the 8th floor is a fitness center. It's small, but nice. And they've got a great jacuzzi! The person in charge at the fitness center was also very friendly.

I was surprised to see that the rooms have fax machines. Some of the fax machines are heavy duty, which also make copies. Other rooms have more ordinary fax machines. The hotel people say they are a "business class hotel."

Compared to the nearby Marriott Grand, I liked the Sheraton Palace much better. And the Sheraton had much better, cozier lighting in the bathrooms. The Grand is maybe 10 minutes closer to Red Square though. It could take you 25 minutes to walk there from the Sheraton.

In the Sheraton, I saw huge king-sized beds. Their sixth floor is non-smoking. The hotel has rooms for handicapped people. The corner suites have interesting views of busy Tverskaya street. There is a cozy, quaint restaurant on the second floor. It's a good place to stay.

Sheremetyevo 2 Hotel Complex    K    +7 (095) 578-5753

Street Address: Across the street from the airport. Moscow region.

Sheremetyevo 2 Hotel Complex - Moscow, Russia

Location: Very good if you need to be near Sheremetyevo 2 Airport. The location is quite poor if you want to visit Red Square.

Nearest Metro: Rechnoy Vokzal... take bus 851 to get there.

Staff Speaks English? Just a little.

Would I Stay Here? Hmm... I don't know? Novatel across the street is far better.

* Soviet Style *
* Customer Service Attitude Is Very Poor (Sucks) Compared To Novotel Across The Street *

I was unimpressed with the soviet-style front desk. Their competitor across the street, Novotel Sheremetyevo 2 Moscow Airport Hotel, is way, way superior in all aspects with the exception of price. Prices range from 960 to 6500 rubles as of April 3, 2004. They would not permit me to see the rooms. (I need the director's permission!) They wanted me to travel 20 miles on some other day to come here for my facility tour. Any rooms that are close to 960 rubles are almost certain to be very poor quality rooms.

What I like about Sheremetyevo 2 is they have a fairly large fish tank in the lobby area and they have internet access available 24 hours a day for 150 rubles an hour. I didn't see internet computers at Novatel.

The currency exchange rate at Sheremetyevo 2 Hotel Complex was very poor (predatory) and Novatel's was surprisingly good and at the market rate.

Slot machines are also at Shermetyevo 2 Hotel Complex.. It's a pity I couldn't see the rooms. They flat-out refused. This usually means the rooms are bad. I don't like soviet-style hotels.

If you must stay here, then it is possible I guess to walk across the street to enjoy the Novotel's good restaurants and far more comfortable surroundings. Just be very careful crossing the street. Drivers in Russia, and especially in Moscow, are extremely reckless, dangerous and discourteous. If they run you over, they will think it was all your fault for being in the way.
