* I loved the cozy corridors. They are so comfortable *

The Hotel Savoy was last renovated in 1988 and they say a room renovation program will begin this coming May (2004). How nice it was to walk the corridors. The lighting is warm and cozy. There are tons of interesting original oils on the walls. Wow! Great corridors! The rooms did not wow me. They are a little dated and have hardwood floors. But these rooms were still not bad.

The hotel has a very elegant restaurant in the building with a soothing indoor fountain towards the front. The restaurant decor is palace-like.

There is no need to go broke using the hotel's internet access. Right across the street is the "Netland" internet cafe. As soon as you enter the stairwell, it feels like you are in a haunted house (at Netland). It is very dark with glow lights. Take the elevator to go to the internet cafe. One you arrive there, everything will be fine. It costs 60 rubles an hour to surf the web and check email. They've got pool tables, foosball, a bar, plus numerous internet stations to sit at. "They play "boom-boom" music. But they have quiet rooms too. It's a good place. If there is a fire at the internet place, I don't know how you get out? The stairwell is blocked.

As for the hotel, the location is very good, the pricing is a little less than its peers in the area. And it really is not bad at all.

Bargain-Priced New Rooms.
Location Is Poor Though.

This building looks crappy on the outside, so I was surprised when I saw how nice it was inside.

The Sayani was built for the 1980 Olympic Games. It is located in an apartment building community. Their renovated rooms are a bargain. However, the location is not so great.

When I walked in, I saw a nice, new lobby. The first room I saw was #1501. It was terrific, and it only cost 900 rubles! My goodness!

Room 1502 was for 2 people at 2065 rubles. The room had a slight mustiness.

Room 1510 is big and real nice.

The 14th floor is another world. Room 1403 and 1404 share a toilet and bathroom. These facilities are old, but clean. The bedrooms were a little musty. Prices 480 to 760 rubles.

Room 1402 was old, yet clean, but also basic and musty. This room went for 1000 rubles. (*All prices are as of March 28, 2004.)

They have a very nice cafe on the 4th floor, plus a nice cafe on the bottom floor. But the 4th floor cafe is better.
